Orchards in Kent
There have been apple orchards on Noke Street and Gads Hill Farm for centuries. The trees thrive on the rich chalk loams.
In 2012 we planted our first orchards of tannic cider apple trees. These are bitter-sweet and bitter-sharp varieties, bred over generations to give ciders with depth of flavour and character. Every year since we’ve planted more trees of vintage cider varieties Kingston Black, Harry Masters Jersey, Dabinett, Yarlington Mill and Redstreak. The orchards are extensively managed and low nutrient.
Apples are harvested in late October and November when they have dropped from the tree and at complete ripeness.
